I think run_journal.exe calls the version of ugraf that is specified in the environment variables, rather than the version of NX in the same folder as run_journal.
Is there a way to force run_journal to call its version of NX?
re: run_journal version
If you are using the "run_journal" program from a script, you could alter the environment variable values before calling "run_journal". I don't know of any options or switches within "run_journal" to specify which version of NX to use.

thank you, it seems that the right version of the DLLs in the same folder as run_journal exe should get called, but somehow the macro fails even though it works when run from the GUI.

re: run_journal
Have you tried running "run_journal" through the NX command prompt? The NX command prompt gives you a command line where all the NX environment variables have been set for you. To start the NX command prompt, go to: (assuming Windows OS) Start menu -> NX program group for the version you are using -> NX Tools -> command prompt.
